Babies

Hello! I just wanted to say that there is not much going on, the babies are now bottle-feeding, because Dusty will no longer let them nurse, and the babies have started eating grain. So we originally had them eating 3 times a day, but now it’s down to just two bottle-feedings a day, and grain in the morning, at lunch, and at night. Well that’s all for now, Bye!

Sorry About the Long Hold Up

Hello! I am really sorry that I haven’t posted for months now, but our old computer stopped working in November, so we got a new one, which wasn’t letting me blog. I could post titles, but not actual blogs. But now that it’s working again, I’ll be back to blogging. While the computer wasn’t letting me post, we had babies! Dusty had a doe and a buck. The doe is brown, black, and white, while the buck, who is the smaller of the two, is just black and white. We can now milk Dusty, but we can’t drink her milk for 21 days, because of the medication that we gave her. She actually had 3 babies, but on died inside of her, and our vet had to pull him out. But Dusty is doing just fine, and still beating up Ruby as usual. Bye!!!!

IM SORRY

Not Much Going On

Hello! There hasn’t been much to blog about, but so far there have been no signs of Dusty going back into heat, so I’m almost positive that she is bred. Also, we’re switching our grain to a more nutricous and less fatting grain, so that Dusty can lose some weight. Well, thats pretty much it. Oh wait! Tonite I’m going to the Acheivment night, and hopefully my 4-H group will win something.

P.S. – My club changed it’s name, so that we welcome not just goat showwers /owners, it’s now open to everybody!

Dusty’s Going To Have Babies!!!!

Hello! Dusty was bred! Now she’s going to have babies sometime around April! I’m really excited, and can’t wait to see if she has a doe. It took a while for her to get bred, infact, she was with the buck  for a week. Ruby was all alone, so  Owen lent us one of his nubians to keep her company. But now Dusty is back, so the nubian might be going back today.

Portland Fair Canceled

Hello! I know I haven’t blogged in a long time, but it’s getting hard now with the new school year. And I barely have enough time to do my homework because I’m on the soccer team, and the practice is every day after school until 5 pm. Anyway, the portland fair was canceled because of the hurricane flooding the fairgrounds. And that was suppose to be the last fair of the season for me, so I’m sad that I only did about three fairs, which stinks. But I had a lot of fun at the Haddam Neck Fair, and I think the babies had a good time. Oh ya! I forgot to say that Chip is going to go to another farm nearby at a camp. We already went to the camp to see if it was okay, and he is probably going to go around next week. I am really going to miss him, even though I’ll still visit. Well, that’s all. Bye!

HURRICANE! (Chester Fair)

Hello! The chester fair is tommorow, but a hurricane is coming on sunday, so we will take the goats home sooner. We want them to be locked in the barn when the hurricane comes. Well, I hope the goats do well at the fair, and I hope nothing bad happens when the hurricane strikes.

The 4-H Fair

Hello! The 4-H fair was awesome! I slept over both nights with my friend owen in a tent, but the second night we had to move into the goat barn and we slept on a hay bale matress. It was actually realy comfy. Anyway, I used Ruby for my showman, and I placed second, behind Owen, who got first. Dusty placed first in her breed class, and then got reserved champion. All in all, I had a wonderful time, and can’t wait for the Chester Fair to come.

Preparing for the Fair

Hello! The 4-H Fair is tomorrow, and I have done all the shaving and clipping on the goats. I also finished my record book, which is a packet that you have to fill out every year before the 4-h fair. This year I am using Ruby as my showmanship goat, and usually babies do what you want them to do, and if you keep practicing setting them up, and walking them around, they will always do that. Bye peeps,

Just Another Update

Hola!  The babies are doing amazing, and we have cut them down to giving them bottles only at night. We actually went to Virginia, and had my dad’s friend’s daughter look after the goats while we were away.We just came back yesterday, and I was soooo, glad to see the babies and Dusty again. Well, there’s is nothing more to say, so I’ll post again soon!
